AOpen AX6BC Pro Gold Motherboard Review By: Joe

Review AOpen AX6BC Pro Gold - a Look at AOpen Stability

The only other board I has to test the AOpen against was a Soyo 6BA+.  Which isn't that bad, since in appearance they are VERY close in layout (minus, ATX and Floppy connector).  Since I am still waiting on some real CPU's to test with, I am still using a Celeron 300A for my testing.

Both the Soyo and the Aopen have the same expansion slots and general layout.  The Aopen is slightly larger then the soyo and the Soyo has 4 Dimm slots while the AOpen 3.

One thing AOpen boasts about is their high quality Capacitors on the board. They can supply a more clean power feed to the CPU by holding a stronger charge. Well I guess size does matter after all!

Soyo 6BA+

Both pictures are at the same scale.

A few other key points AOpen is keen to mention are:

  • Frequency Isolation Wall deploy for signal integrity - Which means it keeps cross talk to a minimum and produces a much cleaner signal.
  • The Gold Plated heatsink is credited for keeping the BX chipset nice and cool during those OC runs.
  • Enhancement of 2200uf low ESR capacitors for overall stability

Something to remember (if you don't know it already) Higher Tolerances = Stability = Good Over Clocking.
