Review AOpen AX6BC Pro Gold - Running the Board
|
|
|

Now after seeing and reading all the hype and specs for the board, I put in my SOYO and worked all afternoon trying to see how far I could OC my lil 300A.
The I pulled out the Soyo and retired it back to its dark static bag in a closet. And whipped this AOpen gem out and slapped it in. I tried the same tests. Here's the results:

For stability tests I ran Final Reality for 2 hours, and also ran some stability test I got off of HardOCP for another 12 hours. The "Max speed" was the
max speed I could run windows, but it wouldnt pass all the stability tests. The tests were run with the same PC-133 CL3 (yuk) ram, and Matrox G400 16mb video. The tests were run under W98SE.
There is quite a difference in results as you can see. Stability? I think so.

A cool suprise at the first boot of the board is the nifty banner that comes up. I found it neat. The fact that its "Novell" cert. makes me even
more happy! Netware forever!

Here in the BIOS it was pretty neat to see a "Turbo" setting listed in the defaults.
All to soon it became clear, this was a Overclocking board, no doubt about it. In the "jumperless" setup portion you got all the goods. Unfortunately it didn't recognize my Celeron correctly, it thought it has a 3.5 multiplier (I changed it before I took the Pic). The voltage only goes to 2.2v, that will keep you from melting you celeron, but may also stop you from going that extra leap in speed.

The Bus speeds that this board can do are pretty impressive. They range from 66Mhz to 153Mhz. it also offers the 117/29Mhz PCI bus speed.
Some Darn nice OC'n is gonna happen on this board!
