Project: Double Header 3 Step 3 - Power Systems

As with everything else in DH3 the power system had to be modified extensively to be functional, yet save and robust to handle 2 PSU's. Below was a sketch I did way back in the beginning days of planning this system. in many ways it stayed like that. But in many ways it changed:

As time went on and I knew I was going to be using 3 110v Pumps I had to work into the setup a way to control those pumps. So the design changed to something like this:

I designed it to use 1 drive bay to control both PSU's and the pumps. So when you plug in 110V its originally NEVER touching the first PSU, it goes right past it down to the switch panel where its distributed. As we go through this part of the DH3 write up I will go into detail those switches and how its run. The 12v layout is pretty simple. The Pelt control uses big 18 - 16 Gauge wire to handle the huge pull the pelts are going to have. The Switches are made to handle 20Amp at 12v so I am not worried about them. As with the Cooling system I did a number of drafts in Photoshop to design the front bay panels.

The First Face plate was to have a lot of fancy lights and such. it was also supposed to have 12v/110v Relays and such to turn stuff on and off. But I Opted for a much more simplified yet equally functional setup.

One thing you will notice, I made up for LED's and lights around the Pelt and main AC power controls by using lighted switches, which rock. And then I just had 3 Neon Lamps for the Pumps. Everything will be labeled like the pelt switches are, just waiting for the next sticker sheet to come in.
The Reason the DD5 isn't down there is simple. The DVD MUST be there. That is the ONLY bay that has the clearance behind it for the DVD :) Otherwise the fans hit it if its in the bay below, and the res. tank hits it if its the bay up.
