Matrox G-Series Video Card Rounup By: Joe

RoundUp - Matrox G200 8mb

Matrox released this card back in the fall of 98, so its quite dated.   One remarkable thing considering that is the incredible 2D resolutions and speeds that this card runs at. The RAM DAC on this 1 1/2 year old card is comparable if not faster then many current cards.

Matrox educated the industry with this card, showing that "good" quality was no longer good enough. Although it has a pretty poor showing in the 3D arena, but it wasn't meant to play there any ways. This was a first run for Matrox at implementing some Gaming performance 3D into their cards. Even with lacking 3D performance, its 3D quality was bar none the best of its time.

Even with bad 3D implementation you are still hard pressed to find a card that can do 2D better then this card.  ( and have it not made by Matrox :)
