This is the tube of the silicone I got. This was my first use of conformal coating so it was a learning experience. Notice the Vaseline under the silicone ( wow.. silicone and Vas.. we could make a pretty good pr0n flick with this stuff )...

I am not sure where the pic is, but I potted the Radio Shack 8A @15V Pelt ( 130watt at 15v) with Marine Goop. Its urethane so it wont leak air like silicone does while it cures.
With a business card I applied an ultra thin layer of Arctic silver on the cold plate, and then a very thin layer on the hot side of the pelt.
I lined it all up, and then cranked it down a bit. Since I didn't need to worry about the heavy cold plate from move'n around all I needed to do was make sure the water block didn't move. To ensure that I ran a line of Goop down the side and basically glued it to side brace.
But now we get into insulating the setup.

To stop the condensation below the socket I coated the inside of the socket with GE Silicone Conformal Coating that OCWC sent over with the cooling gear. Ramil @ OCTools also has some DOW Conformal Coating on its way.
Then to finish off the inside, I cut out a 3/8" closed cell neoprene slug and squeezed it in. it is over sized so that the cpu would compress it.

I coated nicely the pins on the CPU with Vaseline.. actually packed the pins. then squished it all together into the socket compressing neoprene slug under it. You can see some of the Vas squirted out from under the CPU. Some of the Silicone oozed from under the socket also. But that's OK :)
At this point the CPU was not going to be removed for the rest of the project.

OK I built it like you would build a brick wall, but with strips of 5/16" closed cell Neoprene and silicone conformal sealant.
I don't have many pics of doing it cause I was in a mad rush to get it done.
I sealed the complete area around the socket ( 1" within the socket all around was sealed with the Silicone) then built up the walls on all the sides using the silicone to seal them to the side of the socket. I used 3 layers of neoprene and then a ButtLoad of silicone and created a air tight casket around the cold plate/pelt/cpu.
There was no reason to insulate above the water block.
