DAY 3-

Make'n it all pretty, and getting the plumbing started.

Well today I got the RotoZip out and did some cutting. Anyone ever notice the RotoZip blades don't say they can cut metal? well they can, and they do a pretty good job at it to! :)

I cut some nice size holes for the radiator fittings. The reason the duct isn't in there is cause the radiator needs to be mounted before the fan/duct can be placed.

I rebuilt the Duct with Black Duct tape ( fitting eh?) it made it very sturdy. as you will see we will use black duct tape a lot for the front portion.

See... Told ya.. more black Duct tape :) I needed all the air to be brought through the radiator so I baffled the radiator like so keeping all 100CFM ( yes I know since there is resistance offered with the radiator it wont be 100CFM anymore) But anyway, I wanted all the air to be used to cool the coolant. Then just right out the side of the case.
The Radiator mounting work is done in that pic, nothing more was needed to be done with it.

Ahh yes time to get some of that cool factor working. So while at my favorite store, Ace hardware, I founds some nice new shiny brass bolts and some washers for them. So I used those on all the fan mountings and filters.
The filters that CaseEtc has are nice as they provide "finger saftey" from the fans, as well as keep your buddies popcorn from being sucked in or something :) They also have a very nice "Ohhhhh" affect at the LANs I have found.

The Ultra quiet 120mm Papst Fan was secured behind the other opening in the case to cool the inside. Later a 120mm Fan cage from Case Etc was placed over it to stop any wires or lines from getting near the blades. Also to keep your fingers from being blended.

Start to plan for the Res. Tank

The Rotozip cut a nice hole.

If you have read the DH3 article you will know I am big into building my own res. tanks. This is no different. This tank needs to be small, and out of the way. So I went with a 8Oz DuBro tank as it will thin enough to only possibly interfere with one 5 1/4 bay. We will get into the construction on the next day, but I wanted to get the hole in the case for it today. The hole that will be in the res. tank will be 2x bigger then DH3 providing a very fast and easy way to fill the coolant tank.

To avoid cuts and scratches on the top of the case I covered it in masking tape an drew the hole I drilled a 1/4" pilot hole in the middle then. I covered the duct and all the radiator gear with a paper bag to keep metal shavings from getting into it.

It was a short day, I had some other stuff to do, and was waiting on parts from Coolerguys.com, and OverClock-Watercool.com
