Project: Double Header 3 Step 4 - Case Mod'n

This is going to be a brief ( compared to the other areas of the article I hope) overview of the modding I did to the case. This covers mainly metal work only.

Cutting the Side Door -

Instead of doing a lot of photoshop work to design a lot, I used more rulers and such due to the exact dimensions I had to fit these 2 120mm Fans and the 3 radiator temp readings on to the side of the case.  I did most of this by hand and just doing some good guessing :)

Unfortunately I don't have many if any pic's of me doing all the drawing on the inside of the case to plot the holes.

I went out to Home Depot and picked up a nice 4" Hole saw.  I didn't have a drill that could turn this bit so I went over and abused a friends basement  attempting to drill 2 4" holes in the case side.

We got one hole done after a bit of work, but we TOTALED the bit in the process.  Unsure I was doing something wrong I ran back to Home Depot and picked up a new blade part.  Half way through the second hole, the second Bit was fried.  Then a light went on in my head.... NO CUTTING OIL. DOH!   So we called it off for the day.

Really that's about it for the story on the side door. I took it to a metals shop and they plasma cut the door and the top for me in about 30 min.

They did a good job overall, I had to trim some of the holes via a RotoZip but that's only cause I was a dumb ass and didn't measure it right.

Let the Fans Breath!
